Arda Tunca

I graduated from Kabataş Erkek Lisesi in 1988. In 1992, I completed my degree in Economics at Istanbul University’s Faculty of Economics. I earned my master’s degree in Money and Banking from the same university in 1993.

During my university years, I was a chorister in the Youth Choir of the Istanbul State Opera and Ballet.

Between 1992 and 1996, I worked in academia. From 1994 to 1996, I lived in Berkeley, USA. I went there to work on my PhD dissertation, but I did not complete my doctorate. Berkeley changed my philosophy of life.

In 1996, with an AIESEC scholarship, I started working at the European headquarters of DuPont de Nemours International S.A. in Geneva, Switzerland. It was a time when globalization was accelerating. After the fall of the Berlin Wall, I closely witnessed the formation of a new world order. Because of this, a significant portion of my articles in Demos reflect on those experiences, comparing them with the direction the world has taken since.

In 1998, I returned to Turkey and started working in the banking sector. Over time, I took on managerial roles in various financial and real sector institutions. However, I could not apply what I had seen abroad in my own country. Over time, I understood why and found explanations through my experiences.

I have worked in market research, supply chain management, market development, finance, and financial consulting. Alongside my professional career, I have appeared as a commentator on domestic and international television channels and written for professional journals.

Today, I provide financial consulting services. I write articles in Demos whenever I feel the need. My monthly articles are published in Economics and Society Journal (İktisat ve Toplum Dergisi).
